We all go through phases where we're slightly more irritable than usual. Maybe it's due to stress at work, or perhaps you get cranky when it's hot out. Another culprit is your horoscope, and for four zodiac signs, the next month is set to bring a lot of volatility. According to an astrologer, "Mars is activating their charts" and making them "nightmares" to be around until Oct. 12. Keep reading to learn who should be worried and what exactly is setting these folks off.

The key to understanding this shift is having a grasp on how planets affect astrology. Each zodiac sign is ruled by a planet—Mars rules Aries and Scorpio, Venus rules Taurus and Libra, Mercury rules Gemini and Virgo, the Moon rules Cancer, the Sun rules Leo, Jupiter rules Sagittarius and Pisces, and Saturn rules Capricorn and Aquarius.
"Being the planetary ruler of a zodiac sign means the energies and themes expressed by that planet will have the biggest influence on you throughout your life," astrologer Lauren Ash previously wrote for Best Life.
And when planets move into certain zodiac signs, they bring with them these energies, which interact with signs' typical traits.

On Aug. 27, Mars entered Libra and will remain in transit there through Oct. 12. On their site Astrostyle.com, The AstroTwins, Ophira and Tali Edut, explain that "when the red planet visits this zodiac sign (every 18 to 24 months) it brings out the peaceful warriors in us all."
That's because Mars is the planet of combat and action, while Libra is considered the most justice-seeking and diplomatic zodiac sign.
Mars is also an opposing force to Libra since it rules Aries, the sign that sits opposite Libra on the zodiac wheel. So, when Mars enters Libra, it actually weakens the sign.

However, this astrological shakeup is affecting three other zodiac signs in addition to Libra: Capricorn, Aries, and Cancer, according to a TikTok video by astrology pro Evan Nathaniel Grim, who goes by @innerworldsastrology.
He says these signs have become "everyone else's nightmare" with Mars "activating their charts and plowing through the otherwise tranquil relationships they used to have."
"They are upsetting the balance and breaking contracts and partnerships that aren't in their favor," he goes on to explain. "They are suddenly OK with being independent if their relationships are not absolutely perfect."
It's worth noting that these are the four "cardinal" signs of the zodiac, or the ones that kick off each of the four seasons. They are usually known for their leadership qualities and adaptability to trying new things.

Though Mars moves out of Libra on Oct. 12, these four signs won't be totally free and clear until after the 14th, according to Grim, as this is the date of a solar eclipse in Libra.
Astrologer @thehippiedippy agrees that Oct. 14 will be tricky for Aries, Libra, Capricorn, and Cancer.
"Things in your personal relationships can seem kinda chaotic," she says in a TikTok video, explaining that Libra "is associated with relationships and how we relate to others."
She goes on to say that finding a balance—Libra, the sign of the scales, is all about balance—between your own needs and those of others is key to combatting the energy of this solar eclipse.
However, Grim advises not mentioning the 14th to these signs, as it "might give them even more anxiety than they already have."
